Gatherings over the years.

The
Zen of Shit
Did you know that each of us is born with our own,
personal, magickal, wonderful, golden shovel? Yep,
it's true! Ok, maybe you can't see it, but I'm
sure most of you have learned to use it over the years.
If you haven't found yours lately, or if it has
been irretrievably lost, then you're in trouble! I'd
lend you mine, but if I did that, I'd drown in my own
shit! So I guess you'll have to look hard and find your
own again! Why? Well, first you have to
know how the shovel is supposed to WORK!

Remember
Have you ever had one of those “AHA” moments? You know, when you read something,
or see something, or hear something
that acts like a key in a lock, and the tumblers
just fall into place? A simple
phrase can open a realm of possibilities and
awareness. A while ago, such a thing
happened to me, and it made
a profound change in my perspective. Things I had known, and thought I understood,
became clearer and connected in such a way
that it was amazing I hadn’t seen the
correlations before. Yes, it was an “AHA!”
moment, but
it was also a “Duh” moment!

Reincarnation – A Different Perspective
Reincarnation, just how does it work? For most of
us, it’s difficult to take our egos out of the equation. We do a Past Life Regression, and are
surprised when we realize we were a different gender, or that we were not all
Kings or Queens, or exciting personages of written
history. Most of us were average, working people, who lived lives of commonplace
experience. But in each lifetime,
our experiences, and lessons of life, have an impact
on who we are today.

When
the Student is Ready the Teacher Will Come
OK, so what the heck does that mean? When you finally get
your pointy hat, and long black cape? When you have the perfect
crystal wand with the gold tip? When you have candles in every
known color? Or could it mean that you 've studied, and shown
yourself to be intelligent and dedicated enough to really make it
a pleasure for a teacher to work with you?
With access to so much information today via the Internet, it
is relatively easy to start your own research. It takes time,
and dedication, but the wealth of knowledge available is so great
compared to just 10 years ago, it makes my mind boggle! Books are
available with the stroke of the keyboard (and a valid Credit Card),
while many Internet Sites give information freely. Discussion
groups, and Email lists are wonderful sources of information. But
please be aware that there are many on these lists who know less
than YOU do! Not everyone is an expert, not everyone is a
teacher, and more importantly, not everyone is a nice person! No,
I'm not talking about the Pedophiles, or stalkers, I'm talking about
the same type of fundamentalists we see in other cultures. The
predators, whose main objective is to control, or to get a reaction
from those who are sincerely walking their paths. I sometimes
wonder what their lives are like. Do they have friends? Family?
A psychologist? None of us are immune to this type of individual,
yet we can refuse to be drawn into their mind games.

Pagans
and Witches and Wiccans, Oh My!
Once upon a time, when the Roman
Legions were rampant, the name for those small groups
of farmers, or settlements, was "Pagani".
You know, those country bumpkins, hicks, rednecks,
and hillbillies, who paid little or no attention to
the sophistication the Romans brought to conquered areas,
by establishing "City States". This
was not merely setting up camp, this was City Planning
at it's finest. Roads, public buildings, sports
arena, temples, and bathhouses, and indoor plumbing!
Along with all this modernization came the Roman
Laws and culture. Certain ways of doing things!
But oh, those Pagans! With their Country
ways, and lack of social skills... Hmpfff! So
the term became a sneer.

FYI From An Old Witch… Don't Confuse Me!
Language is so important, but understanding the concept
of the written word is even more so.
Lately, it’s become obvious that many people are reading more and more
about Wicca, and other religions growing and evolving in the Pagan Community,
and I sometimes wonder how people interpret what they read. For instance, I’ve seen and heard a lot of
conversations regarding Wicca, and it’s “Laws”.
Everyone gets caught on the “Harm None” pole, at some time or another,
and the interpretations of that simple statement can really cause hours of
discussion, and argumentative ones at that! The entire statement is “An it Harm
none, do as thou Will”. The key to this
statement is to recognize the importance of YOUR WILL. What do you want to achieve in your
life? How will you go about it? And does your “Will” give you license to step
on anyone else’s toes while achieving your desires?

Pagan Leadership Conferences/Summits
March, 2001 ...Bloomington, Indiana...A Pagan Leadership Summit was held which has sent ripples of interest throughout our
Community.
OK, some of those ripples are more
like crushing waves, but "stirring the pot" has never been a practice
this community
avoids!
Although there have been many
comments
about the Summit, I had not personally heard much
about the meat and potatoes of the Agenda. So when I was invited
to the Regional Pagan Leadership Conference in Virginia Beach, Virginia in August, I decided to see for myself
just what all the uproar was about. From
the list of attendees, I knew some
of the folks and figured I'd at least get a chance to visit with old friends,
and meet some I had only heard of through the Pagan Grapevine!
