Myth Inspired Arts and Crafts

Myths and legends come together on the web at www.MorgainesWell.com . The site is presently featuring the work of one young artist from New England, Vivienne Blackthorne. Her work is lovely and haunting and she works in many mediums at this newly launched site. So far all that is up are some gorgeous pieces of hand made myth inspired  jewelry.

Vivienne has been haunted since childhood by the ancient myths of various cultures from the Greeks and Romans to her personal favorite, the Celts, and even to some degree the legends of the far north. Her work is also influenced by the teaching of Zen Buddhism. She comes from a unique family and was raised in a very unique way inside a "sangha", a co-operative of practitioners of eastern philosophy, where her father is presently guiding teacher.

She discovered the old ways of paganism and witchcraft at around age eleven.

Since then, she has spent nearly every waking hour searching and scouring the world over, every source she could find, from the sutras to the Mabinogion to many various pagan authors, some of them from the middle ages, thanks to her uncle's library, to learn as much as possible about the ancient traditions.

She is now working to create healing and happiness for herself and others by keeping the old traditions of paganism and witchcraft alive. In order to bring back the ancient wisdom, she has started a small art lable, Morgaine's Well, which is dedicated to myths, magick, fun, healing, beauty, the arts, inspiration, and the stories that once held the power to move the stars through the sky, Today's mere myths and legends forgotten by most.

Morgaine's Well is also equipped with a forum, where you can interact with Vivienne, and other like minded people; exchange ideas on many subjects from philosophy and religion, to art and tarot. Her inspired art is also available for purchase, from this easy to navigate user friendly site.

The Tarot of Dreams is a visual experience to delight and entertain you. The 80-card deck  (including a reference card and a cover card) follows the Fool's journey through the Major  Arcana and continues with fully illustrated Minors in suits of Wands, Cups, Swords and Coins.

The companion CD complements the deck with content and features that are unique to the tarot  genre. Lee Bursten's text provides a comprehensive insight into the imagery, as well as  the heritage of the esoteric symbolism that has been incorporated.

The production of the Tarot of Dreams has been a very personal experience, an arduous but  satisfying journey. I have provided some scenery along the way, but ultimately this journey is yours to take, one with no limits of time or distance. I hope you enjoy it.

AriadneSpider has risen from its ashes, and has returned to a new domain under old management.

We (Inanna Liban, Enyo Perseus, and Gwendalyn Wolfrose) grew tired of watching our beloved search engine fall to pieces due to neglect, so we decided to give it new life under a new domain. You can now search for sites at AriadneSpider.org, the Gateway to the Pagan Internet.

May you find what you seek.

FORTHCOMING RELEASE!

Fulfillment of Being: Nurturing the True Self Quill Mastercraft

ISBN 0-9758528-1-7
Suggested Retail Price - $10.99
Release Date - January 15, 2005

The Most Controversial Book on Personal Faith Ever Published!

Fulfillment of Being: Nurturing the True Self is a controversial book which will rattle the status quo of religious practice to its very core.  Beginning with definitions which clarify the difference between faith and religion, the text moves into an honest, unbiased study of the various religions which have colored the history of humanity, and how these organizations were corrupted over time.

Mainstream clergy will find this text a threat, because it calls for individuals to think for themselves, leaving behind belief systems imposed on the masses by representatives of modern religious hierarchies.

Readers are offered the opportunity to nurture a personal faith and spirituality in these pages.  Quill blends ideas from both Western and Eastern philosophies, decades of practical experience and insight, and concrete reasoning to urge those who feel trapped by dogma to embark on the ultimate spiritual quest.  The simple concept of gaining an understanding of life perspectives, personal potential and balance will allow readers to transform their lives, and their worlds, so to fulfill their true purpose on the physical plane of existence.

Opening this volume will open many doors for readers, but merely reading the text will not create the changes necessary to transform one’s life. Quill does not offer a quick, easy fix to ordinary problems, but provides signposts for a life-long quest toward absolute fulfillment of being.

Included in this volume as an Appendix is the enlightening treatise The Three Rights of Spiritual Seekers, which forthrightly presents the ultimate method whereby readers can make their lives all they were meant to be.

Important new book available from Caduceus Books

Stephen Skinner & David Rankine, The Practical Angel Magic of John Dee's Enochian Tables, Tabula Bonorum Angelorum Invocationes, Golden Hoard Press 2004, Hardcover 292pp. This work describes how Dee wrote in Latin a manuscript of his personal invocations of Angels in. They show his sources and how it pased through the hands of Elias Ashmole to a group of prominent 17th Century magicians, some of who were powerful and influential figures in their day. They developed Dee's work into a coherent magical system. It presents the complete text, with variants, of the previously unpublished 17th Century manuscript titled the "Nine Great Keys". This describes an Angelic hierarchy and relates it to the Enochian system. It give practical instructions for the summoning of these beings. The manuscript also presents the theology and philosophy underlying the work. This book also describes the summoning of the Four Demon Princes and their place in this sytem of magic which is astonishingly comprehensive, including Angels, Demons and Elementals etc. Whilst this work does appear to have been available to F.L.Gardiner and also Wynn Westcott and the Rev. Ayton  it was onbly very partially incorporated into the Golden Dawn and even then may have been surpressed by the Golden Dawn chiefs. It did not find its way Regardie's Golden Dawn. Thus Crowley was unaware of the complete system.

This work is historically important, throwing fascinatimg new light upon a vital magical tradition with Western Occultism

Stephen Skinner is the author of  Living Earth Manual of Feng-Shui, the scholarly Terrestial Astrology and other titles relating to geomancy. He is also co-author of Techniques of High Magic with Francis King and Search for Abraxas with Neville Drury. As proprietor of Askin Press he made available John Dee's True and Faithful Relations, the Fourth Book attributed to Agrippa, the Archodoxes of Magic by Parcelsus, Laycock's Complete Enochian Dictionary, Crowley's Tao Teh King, Spare's Focus of Life & Earth Inferno.

The Goodly Spellbook: Olde Spells for Modern Problems is a thoroughly comprehensive, absolutely definitive guide to spellworking -- the must-have book for anyone who wants to practice real hands-on magic. It immerses the reader in a supernatural world where wonders can be wrought by using common ingredients, such as a piece of string, as well as exotic things, such as snakeskin.

It's amazing how many magic topics this book covers: The Secret Language of Witches; Barbarous Words of Power; Geomancy; Elemental Scrying; Divination techniques; Magical Music; Magical Alphabets; Mystic Dance and Drumming; Kitchen Witchery; Magical Gestures; and much, much more.

Delightfully well-written and practical,
The Goodly Spellbook is replete with evocative woodcut illustrations and fascinating, helpful diagrams. It offers what most Pagan books don't -- detailed explanations of magic's basis and how each unique spell works.

The Goodly Spellbook is organized into 3 parts: Scope (the history of magic), Skills (Traditional magic techniques) , and Spells (hundreds). From healing, protection, and attraction spells to those for discernment, repulsion and concealment, not a topic goes uncovered.

Each Spell includes multiple variations to encourage many levels of mastery, the spell's country of origin, the optimal time to perform them, appropriate ambiance to accompany the spell, ingredient list, God/desses to invoke, and the Magical Theory that explains how each spell and spell variant works.

The Goodly Spellbook lists all its scholarly and historical sources, as well as provides a helpful Appendix of Magical & Medicinal Herbs and a Glossary of Common Craft Terms.

Pagan Media Network

In this era where misinformation about Paganism and its traditions is rampant in the media, the Pagan Media Network is a group of reliable sources in various parts of the United States who are willing to present truthful, concise and knowledgeable information to media outlets - print, audio and visual - especially during those periods of the year where sensationalism can obscure the facts, such as around Pagan Pride Day events, Halloween, or in response to crimes potentially linked to Satanism or cult activity.

To be part of the Pagan Media Network, an individual must:

- be entirely “out of the broom closet”
- be willing to use his/her full legal name during any media interviews and subsequent publications
- be willing and comfortable being photographed or interviewed on-camera
or on-air for public consumption
- be willing to have their name and contact information listed on the Pagan Media Network website
- be well-versed in the tenets of Paganism and various traditions
- be aware of current events which impact Pagan practices, whether political, religious or community in nature
- be willing to contact media outlets in the area he/she lives with press releases
- maintain the highest integrity in their personal lives
- be active in their respective communities, whether as a volunteer for various causes or in other capacities

CD Review

Title: Seventh Chakra

Artist: Rhythm Works!

Price: $10.00

Purchase from CD Baby - www.cdbaby.com/cd/rhythmworks

Reviewed by Quill Mastercraft

Vinny Carrasco has a musical background going back many years and, with his wife Judith Hizer, the two present what real drumming is all about: Seventh Chakra.  The tracks - both original compositions and arrangements of traditional Middle Eastern and African songs - have lively rhythms which make the listener want to get up and dance, with abandon and joy.  And while it might be thought only so much can be done with djembes, djun-djuns and shakers, Rhythm Works defies that stereotype with their skill and creativity.  Their music encourages others to find the rhythm within themselves, and leaves you wanting more.
